This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a beauty therapist and I would encourage future clients to have a very clear indication of what their treatment will entail.

I felt both the therapist and receptionist were acting quite hostile towards me which made it even more awkward. I objected to this and the receptionist told me I didn’t have to pay, which was a consolation.

I have worked in the beauty industry and have never ever heard of a therapist not using oil on bare skin nor have I heard of anyone training people to use this technique. The therapist said that they base the oil and technique they use on individuals and her “one handed” technique without oil was specific to my needs. At this stage I was too embarrassed to mention the use of a mobile phone as my mind was racing with questions about whether she had been taking photos etc as I was in a vulnerable position face down on the table. I explained that I was concerned about the lack massage oil and the technique used. When I came out of the room the therapist and receptionist were waiting for me at the desk.

I became very anxious at this point and asked the therapist to stop so I could get dressed. I could hear tapping and clicking and I realised that the therapist was using a mobile phone hence the lack of oil. The therapist then began starting and stopping the massage and using only one hand. At this point I was becoming concerned and feeling quite vulnerable. There was no oil used and I assumed she was figuring out the tense parts of my back however this continued for about 10-15minutes to the point my back was starting to feel irritated by the pulling of skin without any oil. The massage started off fine with a cleansing towel on my feet and a light massage with an odourless oil on my legs. I was expecting to choose my aromatic oils but this did not happen. I waited for an extended period of time waiting for the therapist to return. My treatment was not on time and when I went into the treatment room, I was left to get undressed and on the bed. When I walked past, the therapists were in a room off main room talking. After booking I was emailed to say my appointment needed to be shifted back 10 minutes, which was fine. I booked in for a one hour aromatic massage for $120.
